Orchestra: The Puchon Philharmonic Orchestra

Founded in April 1988, the Puchon Philharmonic Orchestra(PPO) is the best orchestra which is continuously establishing a strong reputation as a leading orchestra in Korea with well qualified musicians and strict conductor, Lim Hun Joung while showing their audience excellent performance, analysis of the music and their unique scholastic characters. The PPO is performing the best music with the delicate and dynamic ensemble through so many concerts such as the subscription concerts, specially planned concerts and consistently developing their musical level through their wide range of repertoires while continuous searching for new music that no other orchestra can follow. But the PPO is more known for upholding their firm philosophy for music, which is shown in their scholastic appearance. Showing consistent interests in modern music, the PPO is giving a fresh shock to the existing musical field which is fallen into deep mannerism through the various specially planned concerts such as “The Night of Bartók(1993)”, “Bach and Schönberg(1994)”, “The Second Viennese(1994)”, “The Concert for 50th anniversary for death of Webern(1995)”.
The PPO challenging to perform the complete Mahler’s symphonies for the first time in Korea last year is developing into a time sense of popular orchestra by giving musically mature performance to the lovers of music while upholding its basic musical philosophy through sound performance and extensive repertoires.
Thus, the PPO which made a firm basis in Korea, has been officially invited to participate in “Penderecki Festival 1998”, which is the one of Music Festival “Kracow 2000” in Poland and therefore, the all members of the PPO are looking forward to showing their own musical character and sound to the music lovers of world.
