The Dong-A International Music Competition is established by The Dong-A Ilbo and The Il-Min Culture Foundation with the aim of promoting cultural exchanges among nations through the music and supporting talented young musicians from all over the world. The Competition will be held yearly for the categories of piano, violin, and vocal, one category for each competition. The first Competition, in 1996, will be held in Seoul for the piano category as follows:
