Elena KIM
Studied the organ under Young-Hee Jang, professor in Chong-Shin University, and entered Milano Verdi national Conservatory in 1999. Kim majored in piano, lied, and chamber music. Various careers during the Milano Verdi Public Conservatory years are the first prizes for many different chamber music conquers and modern music competitions including the first prize in 13th Camilo Togni International competition, Premio Galbiati competition in 2002, the Lions Club Scholarship competiton in Italy. After being the accompanist for the international vocal conquer in Brescia, 2001, she was scouted by Jose Anton Amann to Bilbao international competition in Spain as a new permanent accompanist in 2002. Later on, she was an official accompanist for Brescia International Vocal competition, Capriolo International Vocal competition, San Marino’ Tevaldi International vocal comptition-1st edition in 2005, Martinelli Pertile International vocal competition in Padova, Barcelona Vinas International vocal competition in Spain, Aragal International Vocal Competition, and Bilbao International Vocal competition. She was invited to Valentino Bucchi modern music competitoin in Rome, Tchaikovsky International Competition in Russia. In addition, will be the official accompanist for Vinas International competition for each January in 2008. She studied under Ivary Illia, Dalton Baldwin and she was taught by Stelia Doz in Milano National Conservatory, and got Diploma. Kim came to Seoul National University as an accompanist(sessional lecturer), she now actively performs in many different areas within Korea and other countries.
Jennie LEE
After completing elementary school in Korea, pianist Hyun -Joo Jennie Lee followed her family to the United States where she completed her secondary education in Chicago. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign, with a full four-year scholarship awarded for winning the Thomas J. Smith and Clara Rolland piano competitions. Lee continued her studies at Northwestern University and received Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. Lee then completed Graduate Diploma degree at the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) in Boston as a Collaborative Piano major. She will also be receiving her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at NEC in June, 2008. While attending NEC, Lee received the Collaborative Piano Fellowship and served as a vocal and instrumental pianist. Lee also took position as an official vocal pianist at the International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy. Lee took numerous stages in the US, Japan, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands with solo performances, vocal recitals as well as chamber music recitals. She has also performed in several chamber and duo recitals at Tanglewood Music Center and Stockbridge Chamber Series with members of the world renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra. Lee has participated in masterclasses with musical greats such as Barbara Boney, Elly Ameling, Thomas Quasthoff, Sherrill Milnes, Mignon Dunn, Warren Jones and Christoph Eschenbach. She has held a faculty position at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, a prestigious private arts school in Boston. Having recently returned to Seoul Korea, Lee currently teaches at the Korean National University of Arts and Sejong University.
LEE Eun Young
Pianist Eunyoung Lee has studied piano performance at Seoul National University and turned her focus into accompanying at Manhattan School of Music. During her stay in America, as an accompanist she appeared in many concerts in Merkin Hall, LeFrak Hall, Carnegie Hall and also participated in the Outreach Program projected by Manhattan School of Music for elementary schools in NY area. She played at Chamber music Camp ‘Music at Orchard Hill’ in Vermont, and participated in productions of Northern New Jersey Opera, Teatro Felice New York.
She also plays two piano works both in concertos and recitals. She performed with New York Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra and constantly holds two piano recitals with her husband. She has studied with Soon-Yul Kim, Myung-Hak Lee, John Forconi, Donal Nold and played in many master classes held by Hermann Prey, Helena Lazarska, Martin Katz, Janet Bookspan.
Currently she teaches in Sungshin University, Korea National University of Arts, Christian University and actively perfoms in vocal, instrumental concerts. Also paticipates in recording projects of contemperary Korean Art Song.
YANG Ki Hoon
One of the most active piano accompanists in Korea, Mr. Yang, has had many appearances as a collaborative pianist for chamber music concerts and art song recitals at Carnegie Weil Recital Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Art Club of Washington, Kennedy Center in USA and major concert hall in Korea such as Sejong Cultural Center, Art Center.
As a vocal coach, he has coached many operas including Le Nozze di Figaro, La Clemenza di Tito, Magic Flute, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, L’Elisir d’Amore, Turandot, Aida, Postcard from Moroco, The Game of Chances etc. at Aspen Opera Theater, Maryland Opera Studio, and Korea National Opera Theater, and performed with the renowned conductors such as, Julius Rudel, Robert McCoy, Louis Solemn, Niel Muss, and Grant Gershon.
Also Mr. Yang has played for the renowned master classes such as YoYo Ma, Renata Scotto, Licia Albanese, Sherill Milnes, Charles Ricker, Janet Bookspan, Martin Katz, Helen York, and America’s prestigious art song composer, Ned Rorem and Richard Hundley.
Born in Korea, he has received BM at Seoul National University, Master Degree of Music and Professional Studies Certificate at Manhattan School of Music, and Doctoral Degree of Musical Art at University of Maryland in USA, in the field of Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music. Currently, he is working as a Cooperative Professor at Chung-Ang University and also teaching at Yonsei University, Seong-Shin Women’s Univerisity, Se-Jong University and Chong-Shin University in Korea.
